Happy Valentine’s Day, friends!
It’s a day all about love, even if you don’t have a significant other. I’ve been seeing a lot of talk about Galentine’s Day, which is great and just what I’ll be doing this Valentine’s Day; sadly not today though…being on a much needed vacation for a few days has me drowning in work and studying all day!
I wanted to take today to talk about something more important than a few cute date ideas or Galentine’s specials. Self Love. The kind of love that is often skimmed over and put on the back burner. It may seem cheesy and a “of course” thing to talk about, but it can be really easy to forget to just love yourself. I am obviously not an expert on this subject, but it was something worth talking about, especially today!
Self love didn’t really occur to me until my last years of High School, when I realized how much I love my me time.
Getting back from a great trip to the beach makes me realize even more just how important it is to take a break sometimes. Of course, it’s not realistic of me to just tell you to book a plane ticket and head to the beach, but there are sooo many things you can do just at home to relax and focus on yourself.
I have a few favorites I wanted to share with you all.
Go On a Walk:
Taking a walk is so underrated these days. The world we live in is so fast paced and sometimes I just can’t keep up. One of my favorite things to do is take my precious yellow lab on a walk even if it’s a little drizzly out. I love it and she does too (I could write a whole post about how great my dog is for me, but I’ll save that for another time)
I look at Timber and immediately when I say, “Wanna go for a walk?” she get’s so excited and that joy lights me up. I usually try to leave my phone in the car wherever we end up going and just spend time with her and myself. It’s hard to be present in each moment, but when you pick the right place to go, it can be really therapeutic.
Spa Day (or night):
This one is not just for girls! And it does not have to all the time in your day. Light a candle and turn on your favorite “chill” music, take a bubble bath (my favorite), use your best smelling lotion and just take a nice hot shower (everyone’s favorite). Pampering yourself doesn’t have to take a lot of time, money, or hassle.
30 Minute Reading Break:
This is one that I wish I did more often. This weekend I actually had time to sit down and read a book. In our busy days it seems like having time to read anything other than what’s on your phone is such a luxury. I also know I could fit the time in my busy days whether it’s waking up a little earlier to read something while drinking my coffee, or putting down my phone at night; I always cherish that time with a book and just myself.
Last but not least, I have linked some of my favorite spring shoes and rompers for this spring! Spring Break is just a few weeks away, so it’s not too early to start looking now. 😉
All of my jewelry in this outfit is Stella & Dot. The necklace is the Mia Collar and watch is the Pyramid Watch. Earrings are sold out but similar can be found here and fun hot pink found here are on sale!
Whether you’re having Galentine’s Day or going on date night tonight, remember you are loved, and take some time to hangout with yourself.
