Hi everyone, welcome back to Jenna Martyn! How adorable is this faux fur coat?? I’ve wanted one for a while but couldn’t find one with an affordable price point until this one. It is SO cozy. In other news, Thanksgiving is next week. What. Time is flying by so fast and I always want it to slow down so I can really enjoy all of the fun the holidays bring. With that joy definitely comes some craze, which brings me to today’s post!
I don’t know about you all but now is the time of the year that thing’s get crazy and stress can take over. We’ve all seen A Christmas Story and all of those classic holiday movies with the family drama and arguments–it happens. I’ve definitely been there too, and a lot of it is linked to stress. Let’s not let it happen this year!
I’ve got a few little tips to make things easier this holiday season to hopefully keep us all sane and keep the family drama to a minimum this winter:
Shop early. It always seems like we have so much time until Christmas or Hanukkah (whatever you do or don’t celebrate) but trust me it always creeps up on us. My family and I start shopping for gifts in early November and it makes things so much more relaxing that we don’t have to scramble when all of the stores are packed with people and things are sold out. Bonus: you get to enjoy the pretty presents under the tree longer!
Cook anything you can ahead of time. Usually there will be at least one thing you can cook or prep maybe the day before the family comes over for Christmas Eve dinner. Just preparing one thing a day early can really help ease the cooking frazzles!
Decorate a few days before. There seems to be a reoccurring theme of doing things ahead of time 😉 My mom and I usually do a lot of the decorating and planning and every year I kick myself for not doing things before an hour until our guests arrive. The dinner table always has to be perfect for us, so jump on Pinterest a week before and then play around until you really like the way it looks. Then it’s one less thing to worry about you can enjoy the decor as well.
Be on top of gifts for relatives and mailing. I always seem to be late on mailing gifts to family and friends who live further away. The post offices get jammeddd during the holiday’s so this year I’m going to try to get on it sooner.
Moral of the story–I’m going to try to get way more ahead of things this year when it comes to decorating, gifts, and everything else! Stay sane my friends!
