Questions to Ask Yourself When Shopping Unique Clothes

Shop the post:

Hi everyone! Today’s post is going up a bit late, but it’s here nonetheless. I want to talk about shopping for unique clothes today–maybe a top or dress that’s a bit different than you normally wear.

I don’t know about you, but I typically don’t buy anything unless I feel like it’s super cute, and different! I have a hard time justifying buying something that looks like every other piece in my closet. But, with that can come a few shopping regrets! While I try to buy cute and different pieces, sometimes it results in me buying something that’s just too different or not me and it stays in the back of my closet forever.

So I have 3 short questions you need to ask yourself when shopping for unique clothes!

Do I have anything else like this? We all have those statement pieces like LBD’s and tanks we need, but if you have a sweater or dress that’s the exact same color, cut, and design, maybe take a pass and save the money you’d spend on something else! There are, of course, exceptions like having jeans that are similar and you need more than one pair, but try to mix things up a bit!

Will I actually wear this more than once? I am so guilty of this one! I’ll be out shopping, try on something, buy it and think I’ll wear it all the time, but I end up wearing it once and regret the purchase. This question is one I’ve learned to really think about when buying something unique and different!

Does this work for my everyday routine? I love buying things for certain occasions like a dinner or a party, but most of the time I want to buy something that I’ll get a lot of use out of. If I find something really unique, it may not work for whatever it is I do each day.

And that’s it! 3 short questions. While there are only 3, they can save you from regretting a purchase and keeping something in the back of your closet. If you’re on a college budget like me, every purchase counts and it’s more fun the more you can wear things 🙂

I’ve pulled a few of my favorite go-to “unique” pieces like this two-toned dress from Anthropologie! Two-toned pieces are an easy way to switch up your normal look. Try asking yourself these 3 questions with the pieces I pulled–some are on sale for great prices!

I hope you all had a wonderful Sunday and it continues to go well! See you all Tuesday!
