Yay it’s finally Friday!! I know some of you may still be on Spring Break, but for me it was the first week back after break and it was really hard to get back into it. I kept saying I was ready for Easter Break already!
Like I said in Monday’s post, I’m heading into the last month of spring semester. So that means really buckling down and getting through everything–all the tests, quizzes, papers, projects, and finals. It’s so exciting, but can also be stressful and tiring!
If you’re like me and pushing through the end of the year, or maybe heading back after Spring Break, think about taking one hour this weekend, maybe having a spa night, and treat yourself!
I have a face mask you can make yourself out of just a few things in your pantry for spa night. This mask is my absolute favorite. While I love buying a fun mask at the store occasionally, I can’t find a great reason to spend the money on something when I have this one. I was lucky and never struggled too bad with acne, but I definitely deal with bad breakouts from time to time, typically once a month. I also know that these DIY beauty hacks are everywhere and some of them are total failures. This one I personally use at least once a week, it’s easy, and you don’t have to run to the grocery store to find some wacky item. Not to mention I can’t seem to bring myself to put a raw egg on my face even though I see that ingredient everywhere. I am no skin care expert, but I do have a good amount of experience dealing with my own pesky skin! Let me break down why I think this one is the best.
Honey. Honey has antibacterial properties and also skin-saving antioxidants that are really helpful for fighting acne and breakouts. The antioxidants are also great for slowing down aging! If you have one nasty zit or spot, place a bit of honey on it overnight and see how it works in the morning.
Nutmeg. Fun fact: Egyptian women used to use nutmeg in old skin remedies! Nutmeg helps with redness and inflammation which usually comes with acne and breakouts. You can also mix it with just a bit of milk for a glowing face!
Milk. Surprisingly, milk is not just good for bones! It’s great for skin. Milk is full of vitamins, particularly vitamin A, which helps treat dry skin (my worst enemy). Milk also cleanses the skin of any excess oil that can cause those nasty breakouts.
So what do you do with these 3 ingredients? Mix them together! I usually add about a tablespoon of nutmeg, two tablespoons of honey, and 1/2 or 1 tablespoon of milk, and stir it all together. You can really add however much of each you want, but I tend to like mine stickier so it doesn’t run and drip off my face. I leave it on for 15-20 minutes and then rinse with warm water and pat dry! Normally after I rinse my face with water, it feels so dry and I have to moisturize immediately, but not after I use this mask!
Grab your fuzzy robe, your doggy, maybe a movie, and mix up this mask! Let me know if you love it as much as I do if you end up trying it. Have a great Friday everyone!!
