Hi everyone, happy Friday! Today’s another gorgeous day and I can’t wait to get out and enjoy it after a really busy week.
After around 6 months of blogging, there’s so much I have learned. Most all of the things I have learned, I’ve realized, translate exactly to other areas of my life that aren’t blogging related. Just like if you play a sport or have a hobby, you often find yourself relating them to other aspects of your life.
So I plan on keeping this to the point, since I know it’s Friday! Here’s what I’ve learned so far blogging:
Social Media is much more than “social”. Before I started blogging, I had almost reached my end point with social media. I saw it as a place for people to “subtweet” at others, and basically try to make their life look the way they want it to through a screen. Blogging has showed me an entirely different side to social media. It is such an incredible tool that I still have so much to learn about, but the power of social media through business is incredible.
Have dedicated “no screen” time. With blogging, you can end up being on your phone waaay too much. Not just on social media, but also when it comes to photography, or using your computer. During school it didn’t bother me as much, because I typically needed to be working on something most of the time, but now during summer it’s gotten a lot harder. When you take a trip you want to capture the moment through photos, but you also want to enjoy the moment. I’ve learned that it’s important for your mental health and sanity to just put the screens away and enjoy the day.
People don’t always take you seriously. And that’s okay. I’ve had my fair share of, “the whole thing seems really cliché,” and, “well it’s not really a business,” or “I want to get a bunch of free stuff.” Bloggers are everywhere, which sparks the challenge of separating yourself from others any way you can; however, blogging works. If you put the work into it, it very well can become a business. As of April of 2017, there are roughly 700 million users on Instagram. A lot of blogging is the social media aspect, and it’s safe to say there’s plenty to go around.
People won’t always understand and respect everything you do, but that makes the satisfaction of your work even greater when you keep pushing at it.
There’s not enough time in each day. Well I already knew this one, but starting my blog sure did make it apparent. This summer I am mostly just teaching a ton, but with that comes a ton of preparation. Planning and being so mindful of my time has been really key lately to get everything done that I need to.
I’ve upped my online shopping game. Those who don’t understand or appreciate blogging don’t know that we do all of their online shopping for them! I scroll through my Instagram feed and literally shop through Instagram, thanks to Liketoknow.it. One of my biggest goals right now is to become a part of Liketoknow.it, but for now you all should join to make your online shopping even easier!
That’s it for today, all of what I’ve learned translates to other parts of my life which I love. Thanks to all who have supported and followed this fun blogging adventure thus far!
