Happy Monday everyone! It still feels like Sunday for me because of this long Easter break I had. And it’s a good thing I had this break because I got the worst cold I think I’ve ever had. Not fun. But I think a blog post about my favorite cold remedies will come out of it, since I am an expert now! The countdown to the last day of school has officially begun, but let me tell you how weird it is to be getting out in early May…so. weird. Next week is dead week and then I have 3 finals and it’s summer for mwuah!!
Anyhoo, I want to talk about a topic very hot in the PNW currently. Rain. The rain we get gives us the beautiful and green Northwest that we all love, but it can be really hard to go through. Seasonal depression is really real and I can definitely understand why. I may look like I am all happy and smiles playing with my umbrella in the rain here, but that is a rare moment! The blogger world is really based in the South where the rain is not as bad, so it’s hard for me to see everyone sharing about shorts and dresses in the sun!
April rain definitely is not as bad as the winter rain we get; however, I find myself so frustrated by throwing on layers on layers of coats and finding hoods, or just dodging the rain when I run from my car to class! Not only is it rainy, but it’s so bipolar out here. It’s pouring one second, and nice and sunny the other, so sometimes I want to risk it and wear my cute outfit without my huge raincoat.
It came to mind that I should share with you how I stay sane during the rain 😉 But, I hate to tell you…there isn’t really an easy solve to this problem. There’s no magic raincoat that will keep every drop off of you, and there’s no cure for being down in the dreary clouds. On the other hand, I do have my favorite tips that I’ve pulled today for you all! They aren’t magic, but they help me.
Hairspray. This is a necessity! There is always moisture in the air when it’s rainy season (aka always), so be sure to use a hairspray before you leave to keep those frizzies down! Anything will help you stay looking pristine longer. My favorite is Garnier, you can find it here!
Get out when you can. This one has actually come out of starting JMR! Some days I really need to go get more photos taken, but it’s raining. I can’t let the weather get in the way, and a bit of gloom is actually a lot better for lighting when it comes to photography. My mom and I get out and sooner than later we realize it’s actually mostly just a mist. Hardly ever is it a real downpour. Getting out no matter the weather has been really helpful.
A great raincoat/poncho. A poncho? What? Yes!! Rain ponchos are actually super cute and really fun to switch things up! It makes it feel like it’s part of your outfit you planned instead of something you have to have on. I’ve linked a few of my favorites for you all!
Last but not least, you just gotta go for it. Don’t let the rain bring you down and make you feel like you can’t park in that far end parking spot! Just toss your hood up and brave it. In the summer we will all be glad it is still beautiful and green outside!
Thank you all for reading once again, let’s hope for some May flowers!!
